“- – – a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:22)
– – – they become one flesh.
One in what?
One in hope (to be with Christ forever), one in desire (they desire to glorify God in their lives), one in the way of life they follow (they strive to emulate the life of Jesus Christ), one in the religion they practice (glorifying Jesus Christ by what they do and say).
But, if, for example, one of them believes in Jesus Christ but the other one couldn’t care less about Jesus nor the Bible, can this “one-flesh” relationship flourish among them?
You can answer that question after reading the following passage:
“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will live with them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”” (2 Corinthians 6:14-16) ///
