Misplaced Expectations

Show me a person who doesn’t expect much from others and I will show you a person who is always happy!

While He was walking on this earth, Jesus had never been disappointed by others. Do you know why?

Listen to this: “Now while he (Jesus) was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name. But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person.” (John 2:23-25)

Wow! Did you see that?

Misplaced expectations are the source of most of our pains and aches. If we don’t expect anything from anybody, we live a happy life.

After all, we’re hardwired by God to be happy by God ONLY. That is why Paul said, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4)

Rejoice in what?

In the Lord!

If we don’t know Jesus as a Spring of Life, a Source of all our joy, pleasure and contentment, we will always live in disappointment, being disappointed by others, weather, our surroundings, etc.

Guess what? We also get disappointed by God too because we tend to see God as Santa, an old, bearded old man, ready to hear and meet all our needs and dreams.

And when we don’t know Jesus as a Source of all our joy and pleasure, we become vulnerable to think and believe that everything we see, feel and touch can make us happy and fulfilled. That is why, we sit in front of our laptops or stare at our phones and watch and watch and watch and watch, – – -.
What are we doing? We are looking for something to meet our deep seated desires i.e. to be fulfilled and satisfied!

The thing is we are originally hardwired by God to be fulfilled and fully satisfied by Jesus Christ only, He is the only “Well” that can meet our thirst and hunger. (John 4) ///
