The Bible says,

““You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:27-28

Hmm!

“commits adultery with her in his heart.”

How?

He looks at a woman. Looking itself is not a sin, but after the first look, his sinful flesh starts demanding: “Check her out again! Look back at her and imagine her.” This is the invitation to lust, to desire to have sex in his mind with the woman he is not legally married to.

When he receives the invitation and gives in to the demands of his flesh, he looks at a woman “lustfully,” which means he commits adultery in his heart.

So, when you look at Matthew 5:27-28, one thing becomes clear for you:

Your number one enemy is not the devil, but your own pair of eyes.

Unless you train your eyes not to lust — unless you teach your eyes to say, “Thank you, but no thank you” to take the “second look” at a woman, you will always be a slave to sexual sin. There is no easy way out!

Guess what Matthew 5:29 says?

“If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”

Woah! Gouge it out! Pick it out!

You know what that means? It means, “Take radical measures that can save your life from this heinous sin, or else!”

And in the next chapter, it says,

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” Matthew 6:22-23

It can’t get any clearer than this!

Job said,

“I made a covenant with my eyes
not to look lustfully at a young woman.” Job 31:1

What a covenant! What a life-saving covenant!

Some have quit on this battle and given free rein to their eyes but continue producing “Gospel song” cds, naming themselves “Prophets and Apostles.”

Thinking what? I don’t know.

If one gives in to sexual sin, he will experience failure in every other area of his Christian life.

Paul writes to the young Timothy,

“Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:22

Pursuing Godly things without fleeing evil desires is a lost cause! ///
