Let’s Watch Our Steps

(Below, you find the Facebook status post of one of the Appeal for Purity Team members, he is a single man. I read his post and I was blessed by it and I asked his permission to share it with you all. So, here it is.)

Let’s Watch Our Steps!

Yesterday evening, I heard a knock on my door. At first, I was like, “Who could that be at this hour?” Like seriously, it was dark outside with no light whatsoever.

I called out, “Who is it?”

“I’m one of the female tenants.”

I thought to myself, “What is going on here…” as I walked to the door. I opened the door to see what was up and it turned out that this girl who happened to live in the same building I live in wanted to ask me about something. I didn’t open the door fully but just enough to stick my head out. I felt very uncomfortable a minute after I opened the door. (In general, I feel extremely uncomfortable having a woman at my place.)

I’ve seen this girl around before but never gotten a chance to speak to her. So, yesterday night, at my door, I found out that she’s a single girl, doesn’t believe in Christ, with no relative in town, not even a close friend, and possibly was dying of boredom. So, there I was, standing and listening to her, my flesh began suggesting that I invite her in for a cup of tea. I thought to myself, “I’m single and all by myself TOO. After all, she’s bored to death and it is okay if I accompany her for few hours. I mean, we both are matured people who don’t do silly things, right? We may chit-chat to know about each other a little more, and even talk about the Gospel, right?”

Not to mention Satan was whispering into my ears, “Don’t be religious! It is okay!”

While my mind was racing with all these voices, all spiritual alarms went off “Danger! Danger! Run away! Run away!” and my heart began beating very fast.

You see, we may have good intention to reach to the opposite sex just to help them out with their problems or to even talk to them about the Gospel, but we cannot afford to get sidetracked and be blinded to the truth, the truth about our sexuality!

Instead of inviting her in, I gave her quick and short answers and I closed my door. I don’t think she had any intention of trapping or lurking me, but hey, I’m only responsible for watching out for my own heart which I know too well is deceitful and weak. And I also know well that a fall usually occurs with an innocent incident such as this one.

The only two things which kept me from taking those foolish moves yesterday were these: The fear of the Lord and the possible consequences which may follow foolish moves.

Jesus taught us to pray, saying: “Lead us not into temptation” and He commanded us saying: “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation.” (Matthews 6:13a & Matthew 26:41).

So, let’s pray and watch our steps lest we fall into temptation. ///

P. S. My dear brother, I’m so glad that you are part of this ministry and I’m so proud of you! What a marvelous job God is doing in you! May His name be blessed forever!
