It Cannot Give You What It Does Not Have

Porn cannot give you anything because it has NOTHING to give.

Rather, porn takes from you every precious and God-given treasure you have. It takes them one by one until you have NOTHING left.

“What kind of treasure?”

Prayer, thirst and hunger for the things of God, self-control, confidence to speak about God, peace, joy, rest, good and restful sleep, love, patience, ability to focus, think and reason, on and on and on, including your precious God-given sexual desire.

Somebody may ask: “What? Sexual desire? I go to porn because of my sexual desire. It doesn’t take my desires away; it fixes it, does it not?”

Well, from the outside, it looks like you go to porn because of your sexual desire but the truth is, you go to porn because of your wounded soul; a soul that cries out for authentic and genuine intimacy with its Creator as well as human beings.

Porn’s promise, “I will perfectly meet your sexual desire and give you rest,” terribly falls short because your sexual desire is designed by God and only God can meet it, not porn. Porn comes and takes away everything you have and leaves you with nakedness, hopelessness, fear, guilt, shame, despair, loneliness, sleeplessness, sexual dysfunction, suicidal thoughts and inability to give and receive love.

Jesus said, “The thief (devil) comes only to steal and kill and destroy” (John 10:10a).

Porn, the most effective 21st century weapon of the devil to get rid of most godly young people from the House of God, after it steals everything you have, it goes after your very life. Then after you’re gone, it goes after destroying your name so that you will never be remembered – the pattern is always the same: Steal, kill and destroy!

If porn has the wheel of your life, seek help. You can’t free yourself; you need others. You’ve already prayed and fasted many times to no avail because the Bible doesn’t prescribe prayer and fasting for this kind of problem but companionship with other believers.

“Therefore confess your sins to each other (companionship) and pray for each other so that you may be healed (outcome of the companionship). The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16)

So, go to the nearest local church and seek help. Don’t let pride stop you from seeking help from others. Get up and run for your life. ///
