Is This A Sin?

I sometimes receive these kinds of questions:

“So, if my boyfriend and I don’t have sex but sleep together, is this a sin? If so, can you give me a Bible verse that forbids us not to sleep together?”

“Where in the Bible does it say, “Do not kiss your girlfriend”?”

“Can you give me all the Bible verses where the word of God forbids a couple to live together before marriage?”

“Where exactly does the Bible say, “Don’t have sex before marriage”?”

“If I love my girlfriend and sleep with her and later marry her, does the Bible say that I committed a sin?”

So, whenever I read questions such as these ones, I get tempted to list all the Bible verses and say, “There you have it!”

But if finding a specific command in the Bible gives us the the desire and ability to do the will of God, why do we need Christ for?

“- – – if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” (Galatians 2:21)

“Where in the Bible does it say this and that” is a kind of question we tend to ask when we don’t know the freedom we have in Christ Jesus.

According to the word of God, through the Cross of Jesus, we are free from the bondage of sin and become slaves to righteousness (Romans 6:18), means we’re free to give and receive love from God because we become the family of God.

Once we know this, our question will be, “Does this thing (whatever that “thing” is) help me to be close to God, to cultivate my intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit?”

And the answer we get is clear, Yes or No. ///
