Who said it?

St. Francis of Assisi, not Mother Teresa.

I made a mistake on the video clip I uploaded yesterday where I said “as Mother Teresa said.” It was a mistake and forgive me for that mistake. It was St. Francis who said, “Preach the Gospel – – – ” not Mother Teresa. But the message was not a mistake and I hope and pray that you didn’t miss the message.

The message I was struggling to deliver in that video clip was this:

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
(Matthew 5:14-16)

It says, “they may see your good deeds and glorify” God.

Let our Jesus shine in our life through our “good deeds” so that others may see Him in us and glorify the Father in heaven.

The Good News, the Gospel, is preached well in words when it is backed up by a life that testifies its goodness.

Preaching the Good News but living against it is called hypocrisy and there is nothing like hypocrisy that covers the beauty and truth of the Gospel.

Even if hypocrisy is something we all are guilty of in one way or the other and very hard to be free from it 100% of the time, let’s strive to fight against it daily by paying closer attention to our deeds than our words.

“Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”                                (1 Timothy 4:16) ///
