A4P Guest: I am married and have two little kids. My husband and I had sexual problems and we went to church for counseling. I don’t know how I can tell you this, but in short, I am in a relationship with the person who counseled us. I am crying writing this because Missy, I don’t know how I got here. The person I have relationship with sometimes preaches in our church. He doesn’t care about anything. I now missed my period for three weeks. I know, I am pregnant and I don’t think it is from my husband. I feel suffocated. I don’t know what to do, where to go. If this thing comes into the open, many people will get hurt, including my children. Do you think it is a sin for me if I take Plan B now? I am scared. Have you ever heard stories like this before? Or, am I the first one? And do you think there is hope for me and my children?
A4P: Wow! This is tough! May the LORD be with you! I pray that whatever I am going to say will be used by the Holy Spirit to give you peace and rest.
Let me say this before I say anything though: Yes, there is hope for you and your little ones, INCLUDING THE ONE ON THE WAY.
Why did I say that?
Because the Bible says: “He [Jesus Christ] was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” (Romans 4:25)
Yes, Jesus died for sinners like you and me. So, run to Him. He is the only One who can give you hope and life in the middle of all this because He Himself is Life (John 14:6), the second Adam, the Life giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45).
Second, you are not the only one in this kind of life because the Bible says, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.” (1 Corinthians 10:13a) – That means, there is nothing new under the sun.
Third, Jesus Christ is Light, there is no darkness in Him (1 John 1:5) – That means, you need to come clean with your husband and others. Everybody who is affected by this, your husband, your pastor, if the man is married, his wife, and everybody has to hear. I know it is scary for you to do that and you cannot do it alone. You need someone who can help you to do that but everything has to be done slowly and prayerfully.
Fourth, Plan B is an abortion medicine. It stops the heartbeat of a human being who comes from God. God is the One who gives a child, not sex (Psalm 127:3). I am not saying that an adulterous sexual relationship is an okay thing with God, all I’m saying is the child in your womb is not a sin but a gift of God. I completely understand your temptation to do abortion though. From the surface, abortion may seem the best solution but it is not because it is murder.
Please run to Jesus. He knows what to do with this. There is nothing impossible with God. The blood of Jesus can cleanse you and I from all our sins and make us new. And when we run to Jesus, He always takes us back but He says: “From now on sin no more.” (John 8:11b) – because His word itself is the power of God that protects us not to go back to our old sinful life.
I know it is very scary to come to the light but that is the best option you have at this point. Please run to Jesus! Don’t think what is going to happen to you tomorrow. Take God’s way and leave the rest to Him. He is faithful!
Oh, my sister! May God help you! I know, what I’m asking you to do is not easy but it is the only way to save your life and the life of your three children.
Let me say this before I let you go: Dark days are not here to stay! They will pass away. But decide not to pass away with them. Jesus Christ died for all your sins. He was punished for all your transgressions! Don’t forget that. You cannot pay for your sin; only He can and He already did!
My prayers are with you! ///
