“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” (Psalm 14:1)

Notice “in his heart.”

How can anybody come to know what is inside our hearts?

By the way we do our lives.

“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” (Proverbs 27:19)

According to the footnotes of NIV on Psalm 14:1, “The Hebrew words rendered fool in Psalms denote one who is morally deficient.”

“Morally deficient” – What does ‘morally deficient’ mean?

Listen to the definition according to the Urban Dictionary: “A person who is morally deficient is someone who walks the legal line staying in the boundary of the law but teeters on the edge of committing a crime against another person making their life a “legalistic” one as opposed to a “moral” one, which if truly lived would need no laws to apply.”

Wow! Did you hear that? “-walks the legal line in the boundary of the law.”

After reading that definition, who would say with full confidence, “I’m not a morally deficient person?”

Then it is wise for all of us to always pray saying,

“Search me, God, and know my heart; – – – See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)

After all, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9 KJV) No one!

That is why the word of God warns us saying, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23)

Everything means everything; whether it is morality or immorality, everything comes from our hearts. ///
