Good Friday is the day we remember the cruel death of Jesus Christ.
Why is that Friday, the day Jesus was brutally beaten up and put to death, called Good?
It was the Friday God chose to pour out all His wrath on His Son. God was happy that His Son was the One to fulfill His will but at the same time, it was the day God the Father turned His face away from His Son, the One He loved. So it was a good but sad Friday for God the Father.
Hey, listen to this.
On that same Friday, Devil, punching his both chest with pride, was opening champagne to all his friends saying, “I told you, I could just wipe Him out and I just did! See Him on the cross! He is dead!”
Devil didn’t know that death could not hold Jesus down; grave could not lock Him up; no power could overcome Him. He didn’t know that Jesus was the Lion of Judah, the One and only One who could open the seal!
Oh, Satan, that Friday can’t be called Good Friday for him because he was fooled in full measure, at every level! His Good Friday turned into Horror Friday as death flew its white flag in the air saying, “I can’t hold the Son of God down any longer.”
But that Friday is called Good Friday for us, for you and I, who believe in the Son of God. It is GOOD FRIDAY for us because on that very day, God in Christ Jesus crossed us over from death to live “For Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed.” (1 Corinthians 5:7b) ///
