I Need A Short Answer

A4P Guest: “I have a very serious sexual struggle with porn, masturbation and sleeping with girls. It is just impossible for me to stop these things. I always find it very easy to convince a Christian girl to sleep with me; whether she is a virgin or not. I always get up and decide never to do it again but I will find myself going back to it. I invite a girl to my apartment and persuade her to watch porn with me and the rest is history. I ran into your page recently, like a week ago. So, I decided to ask you this. What should I do to stop this vicious cycle of deciding never to do it and going back to it all over again? I want to straighten out my life before God. But please do me a favor; I don’t need a ten-page long answer. I only need one line. I don’t have time and patience to read your long answers.”

A4P: Hmm. Okay. So, here is my short answer: I so far wrote and posted more than 400 short as well as long articles on this page in the area of sexual purity/immorality. So, get busy reading and putting into practice the biblical principles you find in them. ///

It is getting stronger and stronger

A4P Guest: “I’m a 24-year-old Christian man. I know that sex before marriage is a sin and I don’t want to sin against God but because of my unique sexual nature, I’m sinning against God almost every day with porn and everything. My sexual desire is getting stronger and stronger every day. What should I do to decrease it? It is driving me nuts!”

A4P: (Thank you for giving me permission to share this on the page! Bless you!)

First, congratulations for having sexual desires, one of the signs of good physical health.

Second, as far as I know, there is no “my sexual desire is getting stronger and stronger every day” kind of thing unless you have a serious health problem, for example, high testosterone level in your bloodstream. Continue reading It is getting stronger and stronger

The Church – – – the Bride of Jesus

The Bible says, “- – – Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.” (Ephesians 5:25b – 27)

Jesus is a relentless Lover and Pursuer of the Church, His Bride!

The Church today may, from the outside, look old with lots of wrinkles and blemishes; flaws and faults but don’t forget, the Lion of Judah is Her Lover! He is Her Groom! He gave Himself up for Her! He is Her Head and She is His Body! (Ephesians 5:23) He will wash Her until She becomes radiant enough to be His wedded wife! Continue reading The Church – – – the Bride of Jesus

Is it okay for a girl to ask a man for a date?

A4P Guest: I’m a 26-year-old Christian girl, and I’m a fourth year university student. I’m one of the five leaders of the campus Christian fellowship (two of us are girls). Through time and from working very closely in this fellowship, I developed a strong feeling to one of the guys, but he doesn’t seem to have any special feelings for me other than seeing me as his sister-in-Christ. Is it okay for me to pursue him? Is it okay for me to ask him for a date?

A4P: My heart goes out to you. It’s just a tough spot for a young girl like you to find herself in. I know you may wish me saying something like, “It is okay for a girl to ask a man for a date; there is no Bible verse that forbids her to do that. It is just culture, – – -” Continue reading Is it okay for a girl to ask a man for a date?

My Take on “Why men don’t ask for direction”

My Take on “Why men don’t ask for direction”

First things first: Thank you all for your kind words on the Banko’s family picture I posted yesterday!I read each and every comment. I took none of your kind words for granted. I appreciate them all. May the LORD Jesus Christ take all the praise and honor, for He is the Author of every good and perfect gift!

So, going back to the topic of why men don’t ask for direction, from all the comments which were dropped off on that post (I’m referring to last Saturday, Aug 8’s post) my number one favorite comment is this one: “a woman is right next to him to ask.” Seriously this comment made my Sunday! I love it! Continue reading My Take on “Why men don’t ask for direction”

Online Dating

Online Dating

Hmm! I personally don’t like the phrase “Online dating” let alone the actual dating being done online.

Sure, we are now doing life more on a virtual world than on the real one. I worked for a company for five years without meeting the person who interviewed me and later became my boss. Why? There was no need for me and her to meet in person. The work was done perfectly and we both loved it! Why do we need to meet? No need!

Meeting people online is a good way to meet people whom we may not otherwise be able to, given our hectic lifestyle. However meeting people online, dating them online and later deciding to marry them to do marriage in the real world is a very tricky and risky business. Continue reading Online Dating

Dating, Courting and Proposing on Facebook

A4P Guest: I am in love with a girl I’ve known since high school. We were just friends back then, but now, we each found out that we are in love. We study the Bible online once a day and we talk about everything under the sun. I feel very connected to her and I think this is THE ONE! We both want to honor God in our dating as well as marriage life. So, do you advise us to take a premarital class now or wait until I propose to her and start the wedding process?

A4P: (Thank you for giving me permission to share our conversation on the page! Bless you!)

Congratulations for finding THE ONE! I am very happy for you! Yeah, sure, I advise you to propose to her first before you guys take a premarital class. Continue reading Dating, Courting and Proposing on Facebook

What are you sowing?

Sometimes in the middle of counseling, I ask this question, “So, who do you want to be in the next 10 years or so?”

The response I always get is something like, “I want to be a person who loves and serves God and others with everything I am and with everything I have.”

So, my follow-up question is, “So, what are you doing today to get there then?”

Why am I asking that? Well, for all the counseling sessions to be effective and fruitful, the person I am counseling primarily needs to know that there is what is called “the law of sowing and reaping.” Knowing this fact will help the person change his/her course or direction of life for good!

Law of sowing and reaping will never, ever, go away from this life. We reap what we sow. Continue reading What are you sowing?
