My Berhan’s Response to a Question

If you are with me for the whole month of October, you should know what is going on with Appeal for Purity.

Well, October 31st is Appeal for Purity’s Two Year Anniversary and as part of the celebration of this day, I am re-posting some of my short and long articles (blogs, or writings, or whatever you call it) so that those who are new to the page will get a chance to read them.

Today, I will re-post my number one favorite post of all times! If you’ve been with me so long, you should, without a doubt, know which post is my number one favorite. It is my Berhan’s response to someone who directed his question not to me but to my Berhan.

When I uploaded the video of a short ceremony where my Berhan officially released me to the ministry, someone asked him what “I release my wife to the Work of God” means and here is my Berhan’s response (originally posted on 09/30/2014): Continue reading My Berhan’s Response to a Question

A God of Second Chance

She is very good at making people feel at home. Most people get attracted to her because she gives everything she has; her time, money or anything she can give. But one thing people don’t know about her is this: She gives everything she has because she is scared of being left alone.

As she quietly celebrated her 46th birthday in her townhouse, she turned the TV on and sat down across the TV. She didn’t even know why she turned it on because she was not watching. She was “zoomed out” to somewhere else. As if the TV was talking to her, reaching to the remote control, she said, “I don’t think you’ll be of any help for me today,” and she turned it off.

She wished if someone called and said, “Happy birthday! Let’s go out and have fun,” but who? Just few years ago, her phone used to ring every minute. Not anymore. Continue reading A God of Second Chance

Do Not Be An Enabler

A4P Guest: “Whenever my wife and I have a conflict, my wife sleeps on the sofa in the living room.”

A4P: When did she start doing that?

A4P Guest: From day one of our marriage. We’re now married for ten years and that is how she’s always been reacting to conflicts.

A4P: Why did you let her do that for ten years and what makes you think that she can change her ten year-old habit within a two-hour counseling session?

Take home message:  Don’t be an “enabler” of a wrong or bad habit of others. Make it a big deal the first time you see it so that it won’t continue happening. You make it a big deal because it is a big deal. ///

Is there such a thing as “Christian Dating”?

If you are a Christian and you want to know if there is such a thing as “Christian dating”, proper for a Christian, the answer is sure there is. But before I say anything about the typical, honorable “Christian dating”, I have to define what “Christian” means so that the definition itself will be a ground upon which I build my case.

Christian means, a person who lives or thrives to lead a life that brings glory and honor to the name of Jesus. Continue reading Is there such a thing as “Christian Dating”?

Let’s Aim Our Gun at the Right Enemy

Until we start owning up our mistakes, wrongful characters and motives, laziness, sinful choices and destructive habits, we won’t experience victory in our lives. Most of the time, we find ourselves directing our energy and time in rebuking Satan. But if we channel that same energy to own up our part in the problem, we’ll be on our way to victory because our “gun” is directing at the right target. There is a right time and place to rebuke Satan.

If we rebuke Satan for the habit we develop through time, we go down deep in it because our machine gun is targeting at the wrong enemy. Continue reading Let’s Aim Our Gun at the Right Enemy

Blessings to You all!

Blessings

I’ve been meditating on this passage (Psalm 20:1-5) since morning and they are blessing my heart beyond measure. So, I thought it would be nice to share it with you all before I step out of my house to go to church.

Have a blessed Sunday!

A Man After God’s Own Heart

(True Story of a Young Man I met)

It was summer but the church I was invited to speak was in Europe and their summer was not as hot as here in DC. I enjoyed it but truth to be told, I was very thankful for the DC summer.

I didn’t know anyone in that church. Almost everybody in the congregation was seeing me for the very first time. I couldn’t even find one person who knew me of course except the people who invited me to speak.

I was very thankful that their leaders didn’t ask me question like “what is your topic for today?” That is just not a good question for me especially after knowing about my ministry. Without detail introduction, the minster gave me the mic and I stood behind the pulpit. Continue reading  A Man After God’s Own Heart
