We Both Are Equally Important

The highlight of my life this past week has been my son driving the car all by himself. If you didn’t read my post yesterday, read it so that you’ll have some idea what I am talking about here.

I was working on one project the whole day yesterday but my mind and heart was with my son, Abel.

When it was round 6:15pm, my son came home and I ran to the door and hugged and kissed him. My first question for him was: “How was it? Did the car slip or slide?”

And guess what his dad asked him? “How far did you guys go with the project?”

Why did my Berhan and I ask our son different questions? Well, because we are two different people, and one of our differences is this: he is a father and I am a mother. What concerns me doesn’t usually concern him and vice versa. My last worry yesterday was about my son’s school project. Even if I knew that the project was one of those AP courses which will help determine my son’s next undertaking, I couldn’t care less about it. In the middle of the day, the snow turned into ice which made the road very slippery, so do you expect me to worry about his school project? Oh, no, not a chance.

Happy President’s Day to all of you who live in America!

I love this holiday for one reason only: It is a federal holiday and everything is closed!

Imagine, it is snowing out there and my Love (my husband) and my kids are home. What more do I ask from a holiday? Nothing!

Some people argue saying, “So, where in the Bible does it say we need to celebrate President’s Day?”

Are you serious!

My life is a holiday! Because of Jesus’ cross, I’m on the road of eternity! That is what I call a holiday! The day is evil but because of the One who lives in me, all the days are holidays and when everything is closed like today, it is even better as we gather together laugh, eat and praise God in one accord, in one Spirit.

What more do I ask from this life? Nothing! ///

“Is it right for us Christians to celebrate Valentine’s Day?”

My Berhan proposed to me on Valentine’s Day. He invited me to dinner and he hardly said a word throughout the dinner. I mean that was not something unusual. My Berhan normally listens to me while I talk none-stop. So I didn’t feel anything different. Well, after the fact, yes, I realized that he went to the rest room and washed his hand and face at least twice. He was planning to give me the ring in a drink and he changed his mind at the last minute and bought something. After dinner, he took out a beautiful pen gift box and said, “I thought you like this pen.”

If you are a girl and the man you are expecting to propose to you gets to his jacket pocket and takes out a pen and gives you as a Valentine’s Day gift, what would you feel? Continue reading “Is it right for us Christians to celebrate Valentine’s Day?”

Brother’s Keeper

“Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”

“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”” (Genesis 4:8-9)
How did Cain miss the fact that he was his brother’s keeper? I’m not sure. ///

Sexual sin is different from other sins – Part II

I listened to this message more than three times. It blessed me more than I can ever express.

I know I am not that good with language and someone with an excellent language skill can explain the concept better than me. But if you focus on the major points, take down the Bible verses I mention in the middle of the message and wrestle with each one of them during your personal devotion, God will reveal to you many more things.
