– – – to deal with the evil spirit when he strikes is by running to the True Shepherd of our soul, Jesus Christ; by seeking Him day and night as a deer pants, desires and seeks for the water! (Psalm 42:1; James 4:8)
After all, Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life! He is the Bread of Life! (John 14:6a, John 6:35 & 48) Without Him, there is no eternal life because He said, “No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6b ///
As you all might have already heard, there is a mourning vigilant across Ethiopia for three days starting today to remember the Ethiopian Christian martyrs who had fallen in the hands of ISIS. So, today, Tuesday, April 21, 2015, I and all the A4P ministers want to dedicate the Appeal for Purity Ministry Facebook page for that purpose only.
Not to mourn, which we all are doing right now, but also to celebrate the lives of our brothers who courageously stood on their faith and laid their lives down. We all are sad to see them depart from this life like this, at this age but God is in control of everything; and we know that the Bible says: “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13) We don’t grieve like the world because WE HAVE HOPE IN CHRIST JESUS! ISIS put to death Ethiopian Christians because they refused to let go of their Christianity!
I was not aware of this news until someone flagged me few minutes ago. I want to use a beautiful and bright Ethiopian map, to remember our fallen brothers!
While my Berhan and I were cleaning up old boxes we put away in our basement for the last, God knows how many years, I found very old pictures, pictures we didn’t even know we had.
While my Berhan was too focused on cleaning up, I took the corner spot to look through those old pictures. I found all those goofy and funny looking pictures My Berhan and I took when I was a teenager and he was in his early 20th. Then I found pictures of all our pregnancies and delivery room pictures. It is just beautiful!
When I looked at some of these pictures, my eyes quickly welled up with tears. Flashes of good memories flooded my soul and I couldn’t rejoice. I actually felt very sad. Continue reading Rejoice always but on what?→
Few months ago, I announced one competition called “The Ester’s Kind of Modesty Competition” and more than 18 girls signed up for it from different countries. I asked the A4P fans to donate money for the cause so that the winner of this competition will receive cash. Continue reading Let Modesty Reign in our Churches!→
Don’t you sometimes, secretly, wish if the Book of Ephesians chapter 5 goes up to verse 34 and says something like: “Husbands, when your wives come to you with a problem, don’t try to SOLVE their problem unless they specifically ask for it. Just LISTEN to their heart.” (I know the Bible is complete; I’m just saying)
You see, most men are naturally wired to solve a problem. When their wives come to them with a problem, they jump to solve it disregarding their wives’ heart; what their wives are really saying.
That is the 8th song from Jonathan Thulin’s new album called “Science Fiction.” The song just made my day!
Think about it! God’s love for us is actually out of this world. The life we have in Christ, because God so loved us, is out of this world.
That is what science fiction movies are all about: They tell a fiction story of a life that is outside this world!
But the life you and I live in Christ is not fiction at all. It is real! God’s love and our life in His love may look like science fiction but it is real!
Did I ever tell you how much I love my three kids? Oh, my! How can I forget that? I love all my three blessings very much. They indeed are a gift from God (Psalm 127:3). I love and enjoy them very much.
You see, I spend most of my time working on serious stuff and sometimes laughing can be a very rare thing to find in my world.
The thing is I love to laugh and I love to hear jokes (“clean jokes”, I may add) and my kids, all of them are very funny. Well, the funniest of all is my little one. But there is no way for you to know that unless you live with him. Continue reading One of the Banko’s Silly Jokes→
Lying down on her back, she looked through the window which was next to the bed. She kept on thinking if her decision to have sex before marriage was right. She wanted to give lots of good reasons to quieten her soul but none of those reasons were good enough.
She quietly said, “I wish I was living with my family.” She didn’t know how that could have saved her from her decision.
It’s been almost three years since she moved out of her parents’ house. She now lives four hours’ away from home. She tries to keep in touch with her family over the phone. Last time when she talked to her mom, she told her about the man she was seeing. After her mom heard her talk about him for almost half an hour, she said, “Precious, I hope you won’t forget what you promised.” Continue reading Oh, Tell Her Until She Hears You→
A4P Guest: “- – – It’s a beautiful list of things we all should practice in our marriage and some in any relationship. I agree that we should work – hard for – good things to come to us, marriage is not an exception. We all know as well that “Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.” Proverbs 19:14. The point I am trying to make is this: a marriage that is not from the Lord will never work despite the practice of the things you listed. A marriage “that fell on us from Heaven” also won’t work if we don’t practice the list; and a marriage that is not approved by heaven won’t work no matter what we exercise the list. My view, correct me if I am wrong.” Continue reading A Comment on the post – “Characteristics of a Good Marriage Worth Copying”→
