It was around September of 2009. I was reading one of the daily devotional Bible study materials I used to receive via email. And I ran into an interesting article and I read it and at the end, it read, “if you want to sign up for a 40 weeks long daily Bible study note, give us your email”.
Early on in our marriage, I used to pack my stuff to go back to Ethiopia for every little conflict I had with Berhan.
You see, we were the first ones to talk about getting married among our friends. We got married and we were all alone. No married people were around to guide or mentor us. Our older son was five, our daughter was three and our youngest son was one. I was rushing to prepare lunch. My hubby is at work. Talk about being busy and nervous, that was it.

A suitable helper or “a helpmate” in the Hebrew word is Ezer Kenegdo and guess what that translates in to: A LIFESAVER.
No wonder divorced men die quicker than the men who stayed married. Remarriage doesn’t change the life expectancy of a divorced man. The most life threatening environment for a man to live in is a house where the presence of a mean-spirited wife is felt everywhere.
First he fights, and he finds out that he has little or zero chance to win, then he withdraws (tends to watch soccer or football a lot or becomes a politician and/or a philosopher). When the Word of commands how a wife needs to be in her marriage, it reads like this: “Wives, submit yourselves to your own husband” and it doesn’t stop there. It says, “Submit to your husbands as you do to the LORD”. And the Word commands husbands this way: “Husbands, love your wives” and it doesn’t stop there.
