Aren’t you happy that you belong to Jesus Christ? Aren’t you happy that God chose to call you? I don’t know about you but for me personally, this truth fascinates me a lot every day.
Jesus said, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.” (John 6:44)
Can you believe this? God the Father draws you and I to Jesus, that is why we are in Christ today.
“It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.” (Romans 9:16)
We receive mercy from God because He graciously decided to give us. We ended up loving Him because He first loved us: “We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)
We didn’t choose Him but He first chose us: “You did not choose me, but I chose you” (John 15:16a)
What shall we say about that then?
“Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.” (Romans 9:18)
Wow! God wants to have mercy on me and you! Isn’t that amazing!
But one thing we need to know is this: If we are in Christ, if God raised us from the dead, we are held by Him forever. Since Jesus lives, we live too for Jesus said, “Because I live, you also will live.”(John 14:19). The fact that we are battling against this dark world and sin is the sign that we belong to Jesus. We always fight against sin because we’re His. Victory belongs to us because God is the one who called us.
So, we need to fix our eyes on Jesus and finish our race knowing that we “ – – – have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” (1 Peter 1:23)
Yes, God hears our prayers, He always wipes our tears, not because we cried a lot and prayed a lot but because we come to Him through the Way He prepared for us before time, that Way is Jesus Christ. Hallelujah.
If you are not in Christ, God maybe calling you to His Son, Jesus Christ, through this video, through this post. This might be His call for you. If you hear His voice, harden not your heart (Hebrews 3:15). Respond to His call and find your eternal rest in Him.
This is my message in this video clip for those who can’t understand Amharic or Tigrigna (my message is translated into Tigrigna by Bro. Afeworkei, thank you Afe for preaching with me!)
Have a blessed weekend! ///
