Any Comfort?

When you really think about it, this world has a Creator. And you and I found us in this world. It is not like we chose to come here as if we had had any existence before we came here, right?

It is natural for us to ask, who we are, where we came from and where we’re heading. I mean, we ask those questions if we find time with “self.” If we are moving with the motion, we are dragged by all kinds of things and our mind doesn’t even have a minute to “think.”

But thinking is one of the features that identify us, human beings, from animals. If we don’t think, means if we lose our capacity to think, we will live like, well, I don’t need to say it, do I?

Yes, this world, the devil and our flesh want us to lose our thinking capacity because none, no other creature in the universe has this capacity and if we think, we start to ask questions such as who are we, where did we come from and where are we heading. Our questions will lead us to  our Creator.

So, one of the call of human beings is to seek their Creator.

Listen: –

“The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;” Acts 27:24-27 NASB

My! Did you read that?

Our Creator is not far from us! And here is the other truth: Our Creator is not hiding from us! And we don’t need to come up with the path that leads us to Him. All we need is to seek Him and the one who came to seek and save the lost, whose name is Jesus Christ, will find and lead us to God for Jesus said:

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” John 14:6NASB

But who will seek God, the Creator of all things because the Bible says,

“God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men
To see if there is anyone who understands,
Who seeks after God.
Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt;
There is no one who does good, not even one.” Psalm 53:2-3

That is true! But by His grace and mercy, God kept some for Himself before time. Only those who’ve been known and reserved by God before the foundation of the universe seek God. They are the ones who seek Him.

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son” Romans 8:28-29a

So, what is the purpose of preaching the Gospel then?

To find those who are lost from God! But it is not like we contribute anything in the salvation of a soul but God, with His abundant grace and mercy, invite us, His people, to take part in His amazing work of seeking and saving His lost sheep.

Jesus said this to those who were listening to Him and struggled to believe in Him:

“I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father’s name, these testify of Me. But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:25-30

Wow! He spelled it out to them!

As the sheep can calmly graze only when it knows its shepherd and knows that its shepherd is nearby, it is the same with us who belong to Jesus.

We cannot know true peace, joy and rest until we find the One who created us and know that the One who created us is with us. So, the one thing Jesus said to His Disciples as He ascended to heaven was not, “Do not worry! You will never be sick! You will never see any suffering or pain. You will be healthy, rich and famous! Every treasure of this world will be yours. And you do all kinds of miracles because you are Mine.”

No! That was not what Jesus said to His disciples. Rather He said to them:

“I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20ESV

What else sheep need from their shepherd but only his presence!

Amen!

So, whatever we go through, rain or sunshine, the one promise we cling to be that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is with us!

Is there any other comforting truth than this for us who belong to Christ?

None! ///
