The one problem most people face when they try to break free from porn addiction is this:
They think and believe that they can win it!
How can anybody defeat sin?
No one can, man! No one!
Your sin will take you to the grave, no other end.
Only Jesus defeated sin and you can only defeat sin through Him. Jesus defeated sin by dying on the cross, for you and I, not as a sinner, but being “sin” itself while He was sinless. Listen what the Bible says:
“God made him (Christ) who had no sin to be sin for us,” (2 Corinthians 5:21a)
“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.” (1 Corinthians 15:56)
“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us,” (Galatians 3:13a)
So, what does the Bible say that you need to do to set yourself free from porn addiction or any sort of addiction, sexual immorality, alcohol or drug?
Nothing! Did you hear me? Absolutely nothing!
You don’t believe me, do you? I know!
Well, you’ve tried fasting, praying and crying before God, haven’t you? Have you found freedom from it then? NO!
That is what I mean.
What you need to do is this:
You see, Christianity is a walk of faith, you start by faith and you finish by faith. Nothing in between! Walking by faith means taking God at His word. When the word of God says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1), why do you struggle to free yourself?
You are set free! Just accept your freedom (Galatians 5:1, 13)
So, the issue is lack of faith, not taking God at His word.
The word of God says, “faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)
So, pray and hear (read and study) the word of God alone as well as with others: “Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, ALONG WITH those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” (2 Timothy 2:22 – Capitalization is mine)
Not alone, but with other believers.
You may say, “Well, here we go! This is what I am supposed to do to break free from porn addiction.”
No! You don’t do this to break free from porn addiction but so you know who you are in Christ and know that you are free from the bondage of sin to lead a holy life.
“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.” (Romans 6:22)
When you train yourself up to live according to the Bible, teaching yourself all Christian disciplines alone and with others, your mind, your thought life, the way you see your life and interpret it will be revolutionized. Then you will say, “Wow! How come I didn’t see that I had been free from it all along!”
Last verse: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of YOUR MIND.” (Romans 12:2 – Capitalization is mine) Nothing can renew our mind except the word of God. ///
