“Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.” (Genesis 2:22)
Here is where we see God priming “the be fruitful and increase in number” pump.
How? God took out Eve from Adam. Eve didn’t have a mother and a father. The root she was found from was called Adam.
This truth has many implications, such as, when God created Eve, He didn’t create another human being but He created Adam and from that same one Adam God took out a rib and fashioned the rib into a woman. This woman, because she was found from Adam, she became a perfect companion to Adam.
(“Adam” means “human being” – from this human being, God made male and female.)
“So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh.” (Genesis 2:21)
Wow! “then closed up the place with flesh” – closed up the place that used to be a place of bone (strength) with flesh, a sign of weakness.
Another point is, the meaning of “ribs” is “part of the man’s side.”
Adam is strong in every side of his life except this side that is closed with flesh. And guess what? His enemy, Satan, doesn’t want to target Adam’s shoulders, legs or arms. Are you kidding me? Satan ain’t a fool! He knows where Adam’s weakness resides.
You may ask, “Why? Why God didn’t leave the human being “Adam” as he was, strong and unbeatable?”
Good question!
Whenever we ask, “Why did God did this and that,” we have to remember that there is only one answer even if this one answer at times won’t make a lot of sense to us.
That answer is:
God does everything for the ultimate goal of glorifying Himself! And His glory is our ultimate joy and pleasure and the reason and purpose of why God created us, and all the universe (Colossians 1:16). And God made “this weak side” of Adam to be a place where Adam’s “all being” is attracted and pulled into. (Note: porn industries are becoming billionaires because they figured this out):
“This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.” (Genesis 2:23)
As Eve was found from Adam’s side while he was sleeping, the church was found from Jesus’ side while Jesus was sleeping on the cross (God put Jesus to death).
“But when they [the soldiers] came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.” (John 19:33-34)
“So it is written: The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.” (1 Corinthians 15:45) – wow, do you see the parallel here?
“Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.” (Revelation 21:1-2)
If we consider the Bible as one story (like a drama, one man looking for His Bride), the script is the Bible and the Book of Revelation is the last scene of the story. And what a joy it is for us to be considered as actors of this drama!
Listen to Paul’s letter:
“Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.” (Ephesians 5:22-28)
Just breathtaking!
So, young man who is reading this, listen to me carefully:
Yes, you are made weak on the sexual side of your life but you are made weak for a purpose. You didn’t make yourself this weak nor your parents. God did! And guess what? God did this for His own glory, to lavishly show to this dark world that His power is made perfect in weakness.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:9)
Wow! Did you hear that? God is not as glorified in your life as He is when you acknowledge and accept your weakness and run to Him with all your power and strength all the time because you glorify God as you fully depend on and trust Him to bring strength out of total weakness.
So, sexual purity, striving to be “a one-man woman” is the path of “the professed weak” who experience the sufficient grace and power of God through their weakness.
God’s grace and power enables the weak to be strong in Christ.
This same grace and power of God makes the strong [who still depend on themselves to “domesticate” and strengthen this side of their lives] weak. Don’t forget that! So, run to Christ knowing that you are weak so that His grace and power makes you strong and glorify God in and through you! ///
