What You Love

Some people ask,

“So how can I walk in sexual purity?”

I usually don’t answer that question directly because I wanna know whether the questioner knows what they are asking.

You see, sexual purity is not a list of, “Thou shalt not view porn, thou shalt not do sex before marriage, etc.”

Oh no!

Sexual purity is the issue of the heart. The first questions which need to be asked are:

What is captivating the heart? Who is on the throne of the person’s heart?

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:21 KJV

So the person has to first ask, “Where is my treasure,” before they ask, “How can I walk in sexual purity.”

They need to ask themselves: What do I value in life? What makes my heart skip a beat? What makes me happy and fulfilled in life? If someone asks me, “Show me your worth,” what would be my answer.

The answers you give to those questions will actually lead you to the truth about your heart as well as your life.

If you don’t like what you see, change what you love. What you love is the one dictating your life.

That is why the one and only commandment given to followers of Jesus Christ is: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37ESV

And the other side of this commandment is “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:39ESV

No other commandments.

Why?

No need!

Grow in loving Christ, you never ask questions such as “How can I walk in sexual purity?”

Because sexual purity is the fruit of loving Christ. You don’t work for fruits! You work on (abide in) the Vine that bears the fruit. ///
