Unsnatchable!

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” John 10:27-29 NIV

In one of the books I am reading, the above passage of the Bible is titled as “Unsnatchable.” So we are those of us who are in the hands of Jesus Christ. No one and nothing is strong enough to snatch us out of Jesus’ hands!

This is baffling but true!

Let’s read the above passage with NASB:

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” John 10:27-29 NASB

Notice verse 29:

“My Father, who has given them to Me,”

By the way, it is Jesus Christ who is talking. The pronoun “them” represents who?

Jesus’ sheep!

Who has given these sheep to Jesus?

God the Father to Jesus Christ.

As God brought Eve and gave her to Adam as his bride, God gave “the church” to Jesus Christ (the church means you and I, we are parts and parcels of the church, the body of Christ – 1 Corinthians 12:27). The Church is the Bride of the Second Adam or the Last Adam – 1 Corinthians 15:45.

Do you see it?

Listen how Paul writes:

“For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin.” 2 Corinthians 11:2 NASB

Woah! This is something else!

A pure Virgin! Who? You and I, the Church, the Bride of Jesus Christ. We are promised or betrothed to Jesus Christ as “a pure virgin.”

Yes, if you and I are in Christ, means, if we believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, and that He died for our sins and rose again from death for our justification and eternal glorification, we are a gift of God given to Christ Jesus.

This truth should give us that unique divine warmth to our weary soul and trembling spirit, and strength to our shaking bones.

What did we do to be loved and elected by God?

Nothing!

What can we say about this truth except to say: May the invisible and the unseen glorious and the Almighty God of the Universe who created all things and does all things for the glory and praise of His Name take all the glory, praise and honor forever and ever!”

What else can we say!

Being overwhelmed by the truth of God, we too agree with paul praising and lifting God saying:

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again?  For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.” Romans 11:33-36 NASB///
