These days, if you ask me, “What is the source of your comfort,” I’ll right away say “Thinking and meditating on God’s faithfulness.”
The word of God says,
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,” Deuteronomy 7:9 ESV
You may read that and say, “Well, that is a good verse for those who love God and keep His commandments perfectly.”
Well, sure! God requires perfection. He only receives the one who is as perfect as He is.
But the question is, can anybody be found in a perfect state on this planet?
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23 NIV
And it says,
“Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins.” Ecclesiastes 7:20 NIV
Did you see that?
That is why we need a Savior who presents us before God as perfect, as if we have never committed any sin, paying all our debts and making us free from all kinds of condemnations.
“But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5 ESV
That is why Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 NASB
So if we are in Christ, guess what? We can lean on the faithfulness of God, knowing that God’s love on us is eternal. The covenant He made with us is eternal. No one and nothing can change that.
His love remains on us! Did you hear me? His love remains! His faithfulness endures forever!
Yeah! This is the source of my comfort! Thinking about the faithfulness of God warms my heart and gives tranquility to my soul.
Yes! God’s faithfulness endures forever! Praise God! ///
