New Year’s Resolutions

Do I believe in New Year’s Resolutions?

Well, I do as long as I use them to make me a better person, not to make me acceptable before God.

Since I am already eternally accepted by God through Jesus Christ, I don’t need to do anything about that. My eternity has already been sealed. Praise God.

Isn’t this news liberating? I think it is!

Listen what the Bible says,

“These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13 NASB

BOOM!

It’s not like, “You may have” or “you will;” rather, it says, “you have eternal life.”

So, that in mind, I want to be a better ambassador of God in this side of heaven and New Year’s Resolutions somehow inspire me to do just that.

This year, in 2021, I want to improve my skill in self-talk.

If you have been with me at least for the last two-years or so, you know what that means.

Self-talk means, “the act or practice of talking to oneself, either aloud or silently and mentally: positive self-talk”

Well, that is the definition and I want to change that definition into a born-again Christian kind of definition, if you know what I mean. I want it to mean like this:

“the act or practice of talking to oneself, either aloud or silently and mentally: word of God self-talk.”

Love it!

So, I get up in the morning and my soul starts spraying in my face its negative talks, like, “The day is gloomy and you are already tired. Sleep here and forget the day; after all, nobody appreciates your efforts. And nobody blah, blah, blah!

Well, self-talk takes it away from my soul and starts talking “aloud or silently” like this:

“Just look at this beautiful day that the LORD has made just for you! Get up and enjoy it! Psalm 118:24 Do not love sleep, or you will become poor; Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with food. – Proverbs 20:13 – Do not lose heart in doing good for in due season you will reap if you do not grow weary. – Galatians 6:9 – Fix your eyes on Jesus, not on man.”

I mean, self-talk literally infuses heavenly energy into all my veins and bones and I get up and get on with my day.

Yes, this is one of my last year resolutions and I want to improve it even more this year because at times, I was bad at self-talk last year (2020). What is so natural for me is to listen to my poor soul.

By the way, do you know that at least 50 thousands of thoughts come to our minds a day and only 10 thousands of them are positive? I know! Scary! Just imagine what will happen to us if we just sit and entertain all those negative thoughts!

Yeah! We won’t have anyone to blame but ourselves for all our bad days, gloomy moods and all those nasty attitudes. They usually happen to us because we just listen to our soul-talk. And the key to change that is in our own hands.

Let’s speak the word of God, not to others, but to our own soul first and experience the power of God literally going through our veins, giving us heavenly strength and power to do what we’re supposed to do: Glorifying the name of God in and through us!

Will you join me to do just that in 2021?

Believe me, you won’t regret you did. After all, listen what the word of God says about the power of the word of God:

“For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:11 NASB

And it says,

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17 NASB

That means, at the end of 2021, our faith will increase; we won’t be scary cats but strong and bold people in Christ; we will be a people of God with a clear stand on God’s moral values, we don’t waver a bit and more. I mean, you cannot beat that! So, join me in this journey.

No, I won’t walk your journey. You will do yours and I will do mine. Deal? ///
