Wrapping Up Gifts!

You have no idea how much I enjoy this holiday season. And it is not only Christmas and New Year, but in our house, we have other “holidays” in the month of December. Two of our beautiful kids were born in December!

So December has always been the most exciting month of the year for me. Praise God!

I love wrapping up gifts and putting them under a Christmas Tree. The excitement is already in the air.

While I was wrapping and putting gifts under the tree yesterday night, I thought of the Gift God put, not under a shiny Christmas Tree, but in a manger, wrapped, not in shiny gift paper, but wrapped in cloths (Luke 2:7 NASB).

Who heard the news about the arrival of this precious Gift at the time?

Kings and princes? The rich and the famous?

Nah!

Shepherds!

Listen to this:

“In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock at night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood near them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. And so the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army of angels praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among people with whom He is pleased.”” Luke 2:8-14 NASB

Amen!

Jesus is the Good News! Jesus is the Great Joy! Jesus is the unspeakable Gift of God.

So, while you’re wrapping gifts to put under your Christmas Tree, remember this precious Gift God wrapped and laid for you in the manger.

If you have little kids under your care, make sure you let your little ones know about this unspeakable Gift which God gave to us. Read Luke 1 and 2 with them. Help their little hearts to see and appreciate this precious Gift.

If your little ones ask why God gave them Jesus as a Gift, read this verse to them:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NASB

Amen!

Whenever I read this verse, this rings in my ears: “They will not perish!”

Why won’t they perish? Because they believed in the One who is able to save them from eternal death. ///
