O Be Careful Little Ears

When my kids were little, one of the songs they wanted me to sing again and again was this one:-

O be careful little eyes what you see
O be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above
Is looking down in love
So, be careful little eyes what you see

O be careful little ears what you hear
O be careful little ears what you hear
For the Father up above
Is looking down in love
So, be careful little ears what you hear

O be careful little tongue what you say
O be careful little tongue what you say
For the Father up above
Is looking down in love
So, be careful little tongue what you say

O be careful little hands what you do
O be careful little hands what you do
For the Father up above
Is looking down in love
So, be careful little hands what you do

O be careful little feet where you go
O be careful little feet where you go
For the Father up above
Is looking down in love

So, be careful little feet where you go
O be careful little heart whom you trust
O be careful little heart whom you trust
For the Father up above
Is looking down in love
So, be careful little heart whom you trust

O be careful little mind what you think
O be careful little mind what you think
For the Father up above
Is looking down in love
O be careful little mind what you think

O be careful little mind what you think
For the Father up above
Is looking down in love
So, be careful little mind what you think
So, be careful little mind what you think.

And guess what?

It’s been almost four days since my heart has been singing this song. Back then, it was a song I sing to make my little blessings happy; but now, I am singing this song because each word means a lot to me.

My friends, these days are hard almost for all of us. Corona being the big one, there are lots of stressors in life. I mean, we live in this dark world.

For us Ethiopians especially, it is such a stressful time, two of our brothers are in war. What more stress do you need in addition to this?

While trying to handle my stress, I heard this sermon in a very quiet room so I could focus on the truth of God.

Spurgeon preached this sermon “Songs in the Night” sometimes in the mid-1800 but I felt like this sermon was the message sent for me this morning from God. The sermon is based on this verse:

“But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker,
Who gives songs in the night,” Job 35:10

Wow! Did you see that?

This is our God, a God who gives us songs in the night.

He does!

Our enemy always tries and does everything so we lose our joy and focus in God, in the God who gives songs in the night. Let me tell you one thing: If the devil is successful in drifting our focus away from God and making us lose our joy in God, he wins the battle.

So, to protect our joy and focus in God, we need to be very careful what we let our eyes see, our ears hear, our tongue say, our hands do, where our feet go, what our hearts trust on and above all, we need to be very careful, sober and vigilant what our minds think “For from it [from the heart] flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23

Please listen to this sermon. ///
