God Knows

I don’t know about you but for me personally, I don’t appreciate cold weather. Yes, it makes me sick and I don’t even know where it hurts.

But whenever I start complaining about fall and winter, this verse always calms me down:
“You have established all the boundaries of the earth;
You have made summer and winter.” Psalm 74:17

Amen!

 If God is the One who made summer and winter, they both mean good to me. So, instead of complaining about winter and the cold weather, I better trust the goodness of God and look for the goodness of God in winter too. Don’t you think so? I sure do.

Anyways, I got up this morning and the sky was as gloomy as can be, and I gazed out through my bedroom window. After staring quietly for a moment, I got up and pulled out my prayer mat. I really wanted to tell God so many things, but for some reason, I couldn’t.

I literally couldn’t! It’s not like I didn’t know what to say but all the things I wanted to say were trying to come out at the same time. I just ended up saying nothing.

I couldn’t utter a word. I began to get a bit emotional. Then while my face was down on the floor, I picked my head up and opened my Bible.

Guess where I opened my Bible and began reading?

“And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

“Pray, then, in this way:

‘Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.” Matthew 6:7-9

Wow! So, my Father knows what I need before I ask Him?

Yes, He does!

The only thing I need to know is I am kneeling down before my Heavenly Father and I am worshiping this Great Father.

God never said to Adam, “Call me your Heavenly Father.”

Have you ever noticed that? This thing just hit me recently.

God is more intimate with me than He was with Adam because of Christ!

He not only said to me, “Ask, and it will be given to you” (Matthew 7:7a) but He also said this: “your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.”

Oh, I cannot tell you how much this truth relieved my soul this morning. Instead of forcing myself to present my prayers in words, I silently sat before God, as if I was standing before an X-ray machine ready to scan my soul and get all my prayer requests.

You know what the phrase “God knows” means? Oh, it means, “He acts on His knowledge.” Knowing my needs means that He provides all my needs at the right and due time. I just have to trust Him and rest in Him.

So, I rejoice in the LORD, singing with David:

“The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.
He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23 ///
