To Do Good Works

We Christians shouldn’t focus on the devil and his ways. Rather, we should focus on the One who is “the Author and Finisher of our faith,” Jesus Christ.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, FIXING OUR EYES ON JESUS, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2 Capitalization is mine)

Yes, it is biblical to rebuke the devil. Yes, it is biblical that some people get possessed by the devil and those who are followers of Jesus Christ have authority to tell the demons to leave that person’s body.

However it is not biblical for us to excuse all our Christian responsibilities by rebuking the devil 24/7. And Satan will laugh at us if we continue rebuking him while we are neglecting the word of God and what we are supposed to do as new creatures in Christ Jesus. We are created in Christ to do good works.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus TO DO GOOD WORKS, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10 )

Yes, let’s worship God, let’s grow in knowing Christ more, let’s learn how much He loves us and who we are in Him. Then guess what? The devil will flee from us as the word of God tells us: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

This must be the order of our lives, not rebuking Satan from dawn to dusk. ///
