I don’t know about you but for me, this is the one solution I find for myself to live a quiet and peaceful life:
To let life go and let God be God in all.
You know, I am a kind of person who doesn’t appreciate surprise that much. I can only put one foot before the other with a specific plan ahead of time with a specific allotted time for each task and step. If something gets misaligned from my plan, my brain starts to hurt and I cannot think straight.
Yes, I am a survivor of a personality called, “control-freak.”
One identifying feature of control freak people is that they easily drive themselves and others nuts. Why?
Control is an illusion! No one can control life except God! So, they always get nervous losing control of everything.
By the way, I am not here to declare my freedom from this “sickness” yet. I am still slowly coming out of it. It is a long and challenging but rewarding journey.
It’s been, I guess almost, a year now since I began to wave my white flag and say to God, “I surrender! Yes, I am not god, You are!”
I still plan my day but my attitude toward my plan is completely changed.
Now, I get up in the morning, tell God all my plans for the day and I say to Him, “Abba, here is my plan but I want Your will to be done in my life. So, have your way .”
Then I let go and let God be God of, not only, my life, but also, the universe.
But believe me, it is easier said than done. Sometimes, I catch myself saying to God, “You know what? Never mind! I know what I said to You earlier but forget it. You are too slow and Your plan seems too weak and lame. So, I will take care of the rest from this point on.”
Oh, oh! Where would I be today if God was not patient and merciful! May His name forever be praised!
God, with His grace and mercy, lovingly puts me back to the game. I love His discipline. I am not saying, “I love that pain that comes from His discipline,” but I am just saying that I love the outcome of God’s discipline. His discipline puts me right back on track. (Hebrews 12:7-11)
So, here is what I wanna share with you today:
Yes, let go of everything, including your life. After all, you’ve never had control over your life! And you will never have control in the future. Ever! Do you know that?
So, let go! You and your life won’t disappear. You are alive today not because you did everything right but because God says so.
The sky didn’t fall on you, not because the sky obeyed you but because God told it so. Your world didn’t fall apart not because you were able to hold all the pieces of your life together but God held them all together and in place.
So, let go and let God be God in your life. I mean, the job description of God is too big for you and for me.
God says, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10a)
Jesus says, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.” (Revelation 1:17b) ///
