Hundreds of Tiny Threads

Why do people stay in a bad marriage? What is keeping them there even though they fight with their spouse literally every day?

Chains of being married?

The truth is, “Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads, which sew people together through the years.” Simone Signoret

Very true!

So, what are those “hundreds of tiny threads” made of?

That is the question every one of us, married people, have to wrestle with because if those tiny threads are made of anger, hatred, grudges, evil thoughts and intentions (but not of love, forgiveness, caring one another, speaking kind words and praying for the well-being of each other), they will be capable of slowly destroying our joy, peace and love and at last our lives.

So, let’s all remember this word of God: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
Yes, let’s not give up doing good especially to our spouses for at the “proper time,” (at the time we desperately need the help, love and encouragement of our spouses), we will reap the harvest of our good deeds. ///
