Ask Yourself This Question

When we want to replace God, we tend to be nervous and restless all the time.

We go shopping but we don’t seem satisfied with the things we buy. We go out to have fun with others but at the end of the day, when we become alone, we get overwhelmed with this heart-wrenching and bone-crushing kind of loneliness and fear.

We need to keep ourselves high all the time, in the most excited mental state possible if we want to shut God out of our lives. So, to do that, we take various risks in life, from eating high calorie foods to dating someone we are not supposed to date (speaking in the context of “single-hood”) and do things we are not supposed to do, such as having sex before marriage.

Being overweight has never been good for health and dating a wrong person that we are not supposed to date may lead us into marriage and that in turn may lead us into “crying ourselves to sleep every night” kind of lifestyle. Then after we bring children to this world, our children will join our “crying self to sleep every night” lifestyle as our children search for meaning and purpose for this life. The cycle continues!

What was our first problem?

We want to replace God with this material world. We start to think that the word of God is outdated and our ways of doing life is the most advanced and modern one. So, we kick God out of our lives  and start to dance to the tune of this world’s drum.

If you are one of those people who are running away from God and His ways, know that the way you choose for yourself may lead you into death because the Bible says, “There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.” (Proverbs 14:12)

The way Jesus chooses always leads you into life because Jesus Himself is the Way, the Truth and the Life. (John 14:6, John 10:10b)

So, ask yourself this question:

“Am I following God’s way, God’s truth or am I following MY WAY?”

If your answer is “my way,” do yourself a favor and make a U-turn and go back to the Shepherd and Overseer of your soul. Run back to Jesus and say, “Please take me back. I have no life outside of You. You are my life,” and see Him putting all together. ///
