We’ll Be Left with SANTA

If we see the Old Testament and the New Testament as two completely different or two contrary or opposing testaments, we are missing the fundamental truth about the nature of God.

If we miss the Christ in the Old Testament, we definitely miss the Christ in the New Testament. If we don’t see Christ’s Shadow in the Old Testament, we miss His Body in the New Testament.

If we don’t see the not yet incarnated Christ in the Old Testament, we can’t see the incarnated Christ in the New Testament.

If we see Christ as the One who is completely different from the God of the Old Testament, then we may probably see Him as a “Genie” in the bottle; a genie who is here to satisfy our wants, wishes, desires, dreams and visions.

My friend, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit is the same throughout history! He never changes. He was and is and will always be the same.

When we see the transition of the Old to the New Testament as a continuation of the same Kingdom, we will have such appreciation, need and desire to love and worship God. When we see Him as He is, as an immutable God (unchanging God), we will have respect, love, honor and FEAR for the God of the New Testament.

The God of the New Testament is usually seen as LOVE, as a compassionate King who loves to give and make others happy without demanding anything in return. He is seen as a kind and generous God but not also as “a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:29). But the moment we take out that side of the nature of God, we will be left with SANTA, not God.

Guess where that leads us into? Once we see God as Santa, we see Him as god who tolerates and overlooks sin. Guess where that leads us into? “ Into Cult” not into “faith in Christ”!

Yes, if we take out the God of the Old Testament from the picture of “the Triune God”, we tend to compromise in the most important part of our life, which is our sexuality.

Why? Because we will miss the message of sexual purity written in the Old Testament! If we miss that, we miss the message of sexual immorality in the New Testament and our sexual purity will be compromised. And that in turn brings shallowness to our spiritual life; which is detrimental for our effectiveness for the Kingdom of God.

Once our sexual purity is compromised, all our spiritual endeavors turn into nothingness. We will be numbers in the house of God; not instruments for the things of God.

How do you see the God of the New and the Old Testament?

Make sure you see Him as One; One God throughout all generations. Heed all the expressed natures of God in the Old Testament so that you can find the lavishly expressed grace and love of Christ in the New Testament; which in turn leads you to crave and desire to have a sexually pure life for His glory. ///
