The Remedy!

It was 500 years ago (exactly on October 31st, 1517) that Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany.

Please read the story if you haven’t. It is a fascinating story. And if you want to know more, follow “Desiring God’s” Facebook page and follow their 31 day blog (set aside to celebrate 500 year anniversary of Luther’s brave act of nailing the Theses). When you follow their blog, you’ll learn about other reformers whom you might have never heard of, reformers such as Ulrich Zwingli and Peter Waldo. It is just fascinating to know these and more of giant men and women of God.

It’s been few years now since I’ve been following these reformers as well as our current time reformers such as John Piper, and guess what became a reality in my life? This verse:

“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.” (Ephesians 4:14)

May the name of Jesus Christ be praised forever!

And this is one of the quotes I found this week that just melted my heart:

“The Law discovers the disease. The Gospel gives the Remedy.”

Did you read that?

Let it sink in for few minutes. The following three verses helped me to better understand the above quote: Romans 3:20, Romans 7:7 and Romans 8:3-4. ///
