Values are Caught, Not Taught

Parenting is not an easy task, especially today. Just like everybody else, I also struggle to raise my kids. I want my kids to turn out to be God-fearing and other respecting citizens.

Well, my desire is good but sometimes the way I want to bring my desire/dream into reality is wrong. I sometimes tend to believe that my kids would live according to my “preaching”, not according to my lifestyle. But the truth of the matter is, good moral standards and values are caught, not taught. My kids copy my life more than my preaching.

I so far caught myself many times following that wrong principle that says, “Do as I say, not as I do.” But the problem is, parenting doesn’t work that way. Our kids learn by what they see us do, not so much by what they hear us say.

Listen to this video message carefully.

As always, don’t be caught up with “I wish she uploaded the whole message” kind of thinking. Just digest this one message and see if you have an integrity issue you may need to work on in your life. You don’t have to be a parent to need to strive to have integrity. We all are called for our lifestyle to mainly be marked by integrity.

The Bible says, “Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.” (1Timothy 4:16) ///
