“You offended some people by the video message you uploaded yesterday”

Hmm, I offended some people?

My friend, fornication, cohabitation, adultery and homosexuality are becoming our “alternative lifestyles” (we who profess to be Christians) while the Word of God says to us, “- – -Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

Divorce is becoming one of the ways we deal with difficult marriages while God says, “I hate divorce.” (Malachi 2:16)

We are taking our babies in our wombs as inconveniences and decide to get them slaughtered, dismantled and dismembered at the abortion clinics; while the Word of God says, “Children are a gift from God.” (Psalm 127:3) And, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

Some churchgoer mothers get ticked off when they are told to raise their own kids instead of throwing them into a daycare from dawn to dusk while the Word of God says, “Train up a child in THE WAY he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

While complacency, rebelliousness and spiritual callousness are taking over churches, speaking in churches about righteous or a biblical way of living is highly discouraged.

One day, I asked why it is discouraged. And this is the response I got:

“Life in this era is different from old times. If you teach about a lifestyle that is contrary to the life of most people in the church, many people may get offended and get hurt; and they may not come to church again. So, we need to comfort them so that they don’t stop coming to church.”

Tragic!

What is church without people in it being challenged to live according to their call, children of God? What is the Bible if it is not applicable to all human eras? Pharaoh’s and Caesar’s books are gone with their eras but the Book, the Bible, the breath of God, is timeless, era-less! Until we get this down, we hurt ourselves in many ways.

Hmm, so I offended some people because I gave advice to mothers to give priority to raising their little ones over their education? Well, my friend, I have no intention to offend anyone in anyway or form but if the message of the truth offends someone, so be it because a mind has to be offended first by the truth before the heart embraces it.

So, for me personally, here is my decision in my life and ministry:

I strive to continuously, intentionally and purposely refuse to please anybody but the One who called me. And, I rather choose in a heartbeat to offend someone while I lovingly point him/her to a biblical lifestyle I know, test and understand than comfort and flatter him/her to hell. May the LORD help me do just that till the end! ///
