It is free!

I don’t know about you but for me I love the word “free!” It is just attractive. When they say, “Come and get this for free!” I run for it. And after living in America for over twenty years now, doing so is just absurd especially knowing that “there is nothing free in America.”

But when you really think about it, in America, it seems like we get for free everything we mostly want to get. Do we pay to have a Facebook account or a page? No! Do we pay to our email service provider? No! Do we pay for the YouTube video shows, comedies and movies we watch? No! I mean the list goes on and on.

If you are a logical thinker, you may say, “I pay for my Internet connection and WiFi.” But compare to what you get out of it, you are paying closer to nothing.

Unless we look into it closely, from faraway distance, it seems like we get everything for free as if they give away things for free.

But the truth of the matter is THEY GIVE US NOTHING FOR FREE!

As people of the past used to get nothing for free, we don’t get anything for free today either, it is just simply we pay in A DIFFERENT CURRENCY!

We pay with our time! Time, as they call it, is a currency of the future whichever way you look at it. So, those who want to make money tomorrow in millions and billions have to convince us to give them our time. It is just that simple!

We have 24 hours in a day and those hours once gone, they will never be recovered because they are indispensable and irreplaceable.

If we are willing to give our time, let’s say to the entertainment industry today, we will be willing to give them our hearts, minds, souls and spirit tomorrow. That means they are investing on us as a whole person. As we give them our time, they do everything they can to win our devotion and conviction today so that we will be willing citizens who buy all their services and products tomorrow, whatever those services and products are going to be. We will be faithful customers who can help them make in billions while we lose everything we have, including ourselves.

And, hear this: They are not only investing on us but also on our kids. Since most life lessons are more caught than taught, our kids will be a photo copy of us.

Jesus died on the Cross for all our sins. With all other sins, Jesus was beaten up for all the sexual sins of the world. But today we sit in front of a screen, so be it in our home or in a movie theater, and watch sex outside marriage and be entertained by it.

Wow! How did they convince us to do that, to watch the sin Jesus was smitten and beaten up and crucified on the cross for? By we, little by little, becoming willing to give them our time!

All they need to do to convince us to give them our time is to add a funny or a sad story-line to it to appeal to our emotions and urges; which in turn shuts off part of our brain which thinks and reasons and asks, “But watching this show is sinful!”

Then after we become their faithful “worshipers,” we ask, “How can I stop sleeping around? How can I stop masturbation? How can I stop watching porn? How can I be spiritually strong?”

How can we?

Listen the source where we can find everything we need:

“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.” (Isaiah 55:1)

Those waters can be spending time in prayer and corporate worship, meditating the Word of God; seeking the face of God in all our life dealings. In short, the Word is calling us to come and build a vibrant relationship with the Holy Spirit; a relationship which takes away all our thirst and hunger.

But let’s not forget something here. Those waters also demand our indispensable and irreplaceable currency, that is, OUR TIME; not to make us bankrupt in life but to make us rich in life as we lose it all to gain it all back in abundance without shame, sorrow, regret and despair.

So, on this side of heaven, nothing is free!

Some may say, “But salvation is free.” Granted! But following Christ is not! ///
