Kohathites

The Bible verse I meditated this morning is not leaving me alone. I think I will find rest if I share it with you all.

Before I let you know of the verse, let me give you a background of the story. On the Book of Numbers, chapter 7, God told Moses to accept gifts from every tribe of Israel and give those gifts to the Levites who can use them according to their assigned responsibilities in the tent of meeting.

So, from the three major Levitical families who were responsible for the work of the tabernacle, Moses gave those gifts to Gershonites and Merarites but he didn’t give those gifts to the Kohathites. Do you know why? Read Numbers 7:9

“But Moses did not give any to the Kohathites, because they were to carry on their shoulders the holy things, for which they were responsible.”

Did you hear that! Their responsibility was to carry “the holy things” (all the items of the tabernacle). They didn’t need to have anything to do just that. All they needed to bring in to the tent of meeting to accomplish their task was their “holy bodies.”

You and I, as the Bible says, are workers of the temple of the LORD (“priesthood” 1 Peter 2:9). As the Bible says, our body is the temple of the living God (1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19). We don’t need to have anything to do our responsibility of priesthood. We don’t need to bring in anything to be temples of God. All we need to bring in is OUR BODY.

The Bible says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1

Precious, God never shares anything with anyone. He desires to take every part of our life. He desires to live in every cell of our body. Let’s bring to God today our life and body as a “living sacrifice” and leave them there at His feet because THAT IS WHERE WE FIND OUR TRUE IDENTITY; because THAT IS WHERE WE CAN RECEIVE GRACE WHICH ENABLES US TO LEAD A SEXUALLY PURE LIFE!

Beloved it is impossible to make our body sexually pure after we separate it from the One who can make it holy. Once our body is separated from God, it gets engulfed by lust and sexually immoral lifestyle and sexual purity will be a fairy story of the past!

“How can I give my body to God as a living sacrifice?” Through a daily life of prayer and reading and meditating of the Word of God. ///
